Alright, alright, alright! Shark Tales ( Ye old Sloppy Pelican) is definitely on the up & up since aquiring new ownership. Way to go guys....keep it up. Docked by boat & there is plenty of room for other boats. Clean paint & no urine smell like Sloppy Pelican had! :). Actually clean enough to order food. Had wings. Side portions of hot sauce & bleu cheese were generous. Fairly large crowd which is generally a good sign.

Wish I could give a better review but there was no one else upstairs and I still had to go in to order and never even got our drinks refilled once. The pickle chips were the best item we ordered...better than a ceasar salad or even the boneless wings.

This place is great for what it is -- a bar on the water with outside space for cold beers and bar food. The view is great and the staff was friendly. Prices are reasonable. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if I'm in the neighborhood on a nice afternoon I'd stop by for a drink and a snack.

By far, the best service, food and staff on St Pete Beach. And dog friendly at outdoor deck. Five stars!

We were here a few weeks ago during spring break & had a less than favorable outing. We decided to give them another chance since we love the view. We are both glad we did. The coconut shrimp we fresh, not frozen & cooked perfect. The Cuban was also decent. Prices are reasonable considering the location. They have some cosmetic issues which I'm sure is on a "To Do" list. We will be back.

My only mistake about coming to shark tales is not coming sooner. The service is outstanding and believe all the reviews about the peel n eat shrimp. Best ever!!! Burgers are excellent as well!!

Yum and yummer. OK, we were disappointed there was no grouper the day we were there (and no mahi mahi either). We stood on their deck trying to decide whether to stay or go, and the manager brought us an envelope with a gift certificate in it to apologize for no grouper. He said, "This never happens. We always have grouper. I'm so sorry, please give us a try." So we stayed and the food was great and the service was fabulous. We had people checking on us A LOT, and so friendly and welcoming. I especially liked Travis who was from "Half way between here and Ocala," and had just enough drawl to be charming--and called me "Ma'am" in a cute not patronizing way. Agree with other reviewers--sit upstairs, outside on a lovely weather day and enjoy the view.

This restaurant was recently purchased & used to be the Sloppy Pelican. I've been twice & sat outside upstairs both times. The service was outstanding. They never stop running and make sure everything is to your liking. The peel & eat shrimp are the best on the beach by far. Clams and garlic bread to die for. The menu is diverse so there is something there for everyone.

I went looking for the Sloppy Pelican and found Shark Tales instead. Hoping the menu was similar we checked it out. We went searching for wings and were not disappointed. Tried the garlic and parmesan. I like the view and the atmosphere here. Everything is freshly painted and updated Good luck to the new owners hopefully we will see you next time.

We came about 8:00 came upstairs we were treated and told to grab a seat. We grabbed a table and later were scolded for being in the way of the walkway. 2 of us ordered the fish and chips one the shrimp and I ordered the grouper. Mine was awful. Good was all cold got my salad with my meal instead of before my wife's fish and chips were bland and cold as well. The light was out outside and we needed to use our phone to light up the table to see the menu. Awful experience Waiter Scott was great though he worked hard to make us happy he is an asset to them that may need to be used more

Love this place and its CAPTAIN PLATTER. Great service and delicious food right on the water. I've seen dolphins and crabs swimming here. This Californian approves!

As a resident of St. Petersburg I used to frequent this place...until last night. My wife and I went yesterday to find the menu completely changed, our favorite dishes no longer available and the restaurant terribly understaffed. We asked the waitress...after waiting almost 15 minutes for anyone to come over, what happened to the menu. She said they completely changed it and doesn't know why and frequent customers like us were not happy at all. She took our drink order and we waited....and waited...15 minutes later we had our beers. She set them down without a word and disappeared again. They were clearly understaffed and swamped seeing as customers all around us were asking how much longer til they got their food and some customers like us finally just asked for the check so we could go eat elsewhere. They have also raised the prices about $5 per entree! $16-$17 dollars for a burger with fries not including your drink is ridiculous. Needless to say we will not be back.

We went to Sharks Tale and had a fantastic waiter. He said he was the waiter by day and Manager by night their. Anyway, we asked about the restaurant and he said they were trying to be the best (better then Frenchy's Rockaway Grill, by the way he said Frenchy's Rockaway Grill was what they were trying to beat) , well they are! I had Grouper, my wife had Bacon warped Shrimp and Oh my God FANTASTIC! The Grouper was huge and the flavor was just as it was to be . I had it Cajun and a friend had it blackened and the were great. I want to say he told us 12oz. My wife's shrimp with the dipping sauce another fantastic. Normally you get like 6 tiny shrimp with bacon you can barely see well not here. The Shrimp was W R A P P E D whit bacon! We looked around and did NOT see food we would not try. You HAVE to go their, and no I do not have stock in the restaurant, but I wish I did!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S. looking at some of their old photos they have redone the outside eating area, nice.

Food was terrible. Captains Platter...served semi-warm, cold veggies, yellow rice from box, watered down drawn butter, yadayada These 5 star posts are fake.

Not good food. Service was pretty horrible. Not a big menu but the server didn't know anything about the chicken sandwich. I asked for tarter sauce and mayo. Had to ask twice ended up getting tarter sauce and cocktail sauce for my fish sandwich. I was with two other girls so we asked for split checks and she ran my credit card for two of the bills. This was rated pretty good on yelp and I'm not sure why the restaurant across the street was rated lower and they had better service, bigger menu and good food.

Wow...what a horrible experience. The place is a mess, the food was very overpriced, the waiter, although a new employee, should not have been by himself. $11.95 for a club sandwich, "The hammerhead", was missing ingredients on all 3 that were ordered. $17.95 for a "Great White Burger"....wow...what a price to pay for lunch that was so..so.... and fries were an extra $3.00 on each plate! Don't waist your time and money. There are many more places on the beach that have better prices and service.

These servers are working really hard, there just aren't enough of them. Food was OK. Coconut shrimp were so good I'd return just to eat them!

Fabulous place to eat and drink. Highly recommend the grouper nuggets and onion rings. Great staff, very friendly as well as professional. Will be a regular customer.

The only reason this place is getting a two star rating is because my husband really enjoyed the blackened grouper. We ordered the captains platter. They were out of lobster tail. Which was the main reason we ordered that. But they substituted it with scallops. Ugh. The shrimp was fried with hush puppy coating. Did not like it! The yellow rice had NO flavor. The mixed veggies. Ehhh were ok. Nothing to brag about. The fried pickles. Again, coated with the hush puppy coating (corn meal) and served with tartar sauce. Yuck! The waiter said. Oh the cook must be in a good mood. He made yall a big batch. Maybe a hand full. Wow. Hate to see what the regular serving would be. Lol. I can't remember our waiters name. But he is also the reason for the two star rating. He made sure we were ok. He'd ask if everything was good. And of course I didn't wanna hurt his feelings I said yes. Anyway. You can give it a try. But I wouldn't go back.

Place was exactly what we were looking for. Started out with the 10 wings garlic hot mix. They were big juicy and tasty. For dinner we split the captains platter. What a great decision. Someone said on another review to get the peel n eat shrimp. I scoffed when I saw that and now I know why she posted that. The shrimp with the platter were a nice size and absolutely juicy. I don't think I had shrimp in a peel as juicy. The lobster was great as well. Blackened Grouper was on point and cooked the perfect temp. Platter is 27 but we'll worth it and easily split by 2. Not in this area often but I will hit this place up next time we want some seafood on the water. Downstairs bar is dog friendly

Decided to come out in the middle of the week to hang out with my family in from overseas. It was a great mid week experience. We decided to order 50 wings, half garlic parmesan and half honey BBQ. The garlic parmesan wings are delicious! I can't speak to the honey BBQ because I'm not a fan of honey BBQ but my cousins seemed to enjoy them. They have different lunch and dinner specials everyday. Too bad I don't work closer. The view from the top deck is amazing. It's a nice place to grab a nice drink and good food. I'll definitely be back.

Surprisingly delicious! We sat outside at the bar on a nice day. It wasn't too busy so we had a place straight away. We shared the late grilled seafood plate. It was amazing. The grouper was fresh and nicely blackened. Lobster was pretty good. The real winner was the shrimp. They were key west red shrimp and were AMAZING! You must try them if you stop in!
